Gorkha Macro is an independent research publication on Nepal's economy, its industries and its capital markets, edited in Kathmandu.
What we do
We follow Nepal at the level where most decisions are made: the macroeconomy, policy, and whole industries. Hydropower, banking and insurance come first, because their filings let an industry be measured company by company. Our analysis is written for readers who want to understand how the economy and its businesses work, whether they invest at home or from abroad, study finance, or simply follow Nepal closely.
Standards
- Primary sources. Figures come from the institution that produces them: Nepal Stock Exchange, Nepal Rastra Bank, the Ministry of Finance, regulators, and companies' own filings. Numbers that exist only on third-party portals are not published.
- Every number is dated. Each chart and table states its period and source, and each dataset can be downloaded with its method attached.
- Our calculations are labelled. Where we compute something, such as an equal-weight sector return, we say so and explain how.
- Analysis, not advice. We do not publish buy, sell or hold calls, price targets or rankings of securities.
Corrections
When we get something wrong, we correct it on the page where it appeared and note what changed and when.
